Services
Playn Acre Farm excepts young horses and ponies for breaking, schooling, show production or sale preparation.
We accept and have successfully produced everything from foals and youngstock in hand to ridden hunters, and lead reins. We are happy to produce for Fayre Oaks or any of the major sales and we are only 25 mins from Three Counties Showground and 1hr15min from Builth Wells. We like to take time with young horses and believe in treating animals as individuals and attending to their needs accordingly. From the field to riding can take anything from three weeks to six months depending on the level of competence desired but we like to achieve a 'quality finish' so that your young horse or pony is ready to tackle shows in any discipline. Prices from £90 per week. Please call to discuss your individual requirements. 07747600421 |
Testimonials...
Lorna offers the highest standard of backing and producing in a beautiful location near Bromyard. Lorna has years of experience, and this is clear to see in the very highest standard of care provided for all the ponies and horses in her care; and the fantastic results she achieves in producing and schooling young ponies. Lorna’s backing and producing skills are highly effective and positive, and also empathetic and kind, while the care and attention she gives to welfare and nutrition is outstanding; nothing is too much trouble. Lorna treats every pony individually, and takes them at a pace appropriate to their learning and ability. I sent my pony Clancy to Lorna for schooling to be produced as a children’s riding pony, and I am beyond proud of the pony he has become, not only in terms of how correctly he was schooled and produced, but also how brave, genuine and willing he became under Lorna’s care, and how much he has achieved; and thanks to Lorna he now has a wonderful future. I would recommend Lorna unreservedly to anyone looking for a safe and secure setting to send their young horse or pony, where they can be assured their horse or pony will be in the safest hands, while they receive the most excellent training to ensure that they reach their full potential.

We decided to send our first pony to Lorna after not being entirely satisfied with a well-known native pony producer we had used previously. We have found Lorna to be very committed and passionate, with a down to earth attitude. Ria was sent for breaking/production and exceeded our expectations in so many ways, with good results, loving her work and turned out to perfection. We were so pleased we sent her back the following year for a second season on the show circuit, where she achieved yet more excellent results and even more importantly developed into a sane and sensible child’s pony.
The second pony we sent was not quite so straightforward, but Lorna’s patience and persistence utilised his potential, enabling us to sell him via the first WPCS Online auction. He is now sold to a world-renowned show jumping family and we are eagerly waiting to see how he progresses.
We highly recommend Lorna to anyone requiring show production, breaking, schooling or sales services. Each horse is treated as an individual and the yard is friendly and quiet, with great facilities including excellent hacking, perfect for young horses. Lorna provides owners with regular progress reports and updates with lots of videos and photos, especially useful for us as we live a considerable distance away. Now we have found Lorna we cannot imagine using anyone else and our next pony will be sent for breaking this year!

For the amount of time that Lorna had with my welsh Section A colt, she really helped progress him in his education. Being very nervy he needed extra time and lots of patience with the simple things from rugging, trimming, farrier or bitting. All of which she managed to do whilst he was stabled with her. Would recommend Lorna to anyone who is needing help with their young stock! I fully trusted he was in safe hands with her!
